The Karakoram Highway is the highest paved highway in the world... it is so enticing, get it, highway. It stretches through no mans land from Kashagar, China into Pakistan. The area is used by nomadic herders from tribal ethnic groups in the region. The official checkpoints from either the Chinese or Pakistani side are hundreds of kilometers away. It is a trapezoidal region where, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, Pakistan and China all meet and all use. It is officially China's and is part of the Tajik Autonomous County in a province that is mostly Uyghur.
